CUBERA SNAPPER FISHING IN MIAMI

Cubera Snapper reign as the monarchs of the snapper realm. These formidable creatures, sometimes exceeding 100 pounds, command the depths of reefs and wrecks, prowling under the cover of darkness in pursuit of unsuspecting prey. Equipped with thick scales, robust jaws, and formidable dentition, they fear little and feast upon any fish or crustacean within reach.

HOW TO CATCH CUBERA SNAPPER

Fishing charters in the Keys and Miami target Cuberas by drifting wrecks, ledges, and other promising spots with substantial baits. The largest specimens are enticed by whole Florida lobsters and live jacks, deployed with stout tackle including 16 oz leads and 150lb leaders positioned just above the seabed. Heavy-duty equipment, including short stand-up rods and braided line, is essential to wrest these brutes away from their watery lairs.

Smaller Cuberas, up to 30 pounds, frequent the cuts and inlets around Miami, often encountered as bycatch during nighttime snook and tarpon excursions. Regardless of location, targeting Cubera Snapper is most effective under the cloak of darkness, when live bait becomes irresistible to these nocturnal predators.

During the full moon of summer and early fall, Cubera Snapper congregate to spawn, presenting anglers with prime opportunities to target these majestic fish, whose heightened activity levels make them more receptive to angler offerings.
